Mary Louise Hemmeter

Vanderbilt University

Mary Louise Hemmeter, PhD, is a professor of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on effective instruction, social emotional development and challenging behavior, and coaching teachers. She has been a PI or Co-PI on numerous projects funded by the US Departments of Education and Health and Human Services. Through her work on the National Center on the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning and IES funded research projects, she was involved in the development of the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Young Children and a model for coaching teachers to implement effective practices. She is currently the PI on an IES funded development project around program wide supports for implementing the Pyramid Model and a Co-PI on an IES efficacy study examining approaches to supporting teachers to implement embedded instruction. She was co-editor of the Journal of Early Intervention and President of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Early Childhood. She received the Mary McEvoy Service to the Field Award.

Amber Beil

Warren County School District

Amber Beil is in her second year as a preschool instructional assistant at Plano Elementary with the Warren County School District in Kentucky. She previously worked as an instructional assistant in a Kindergarten/First grade classroom. She also has previous experience working with children with different ability levels. She has had training in the Pyramid Model and uses Conscious Discipline practices in the classroom.

Carley Jennings

Warren County School District

Carley Jennings has been a preschool teacher at Plano Elementary School with the Warren County School District in Kentucky for 5 years. She is in her 8th year of teaching children with and without disabilities ranging from 3-5 years old. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education at Western Kentucky University and earned her master’s degree in Special Education at University of the Cumberlands. She has had training in the Pyramid Model and uses Conscious Discipline practices in her classroom.

Kimberly Williams

Mid-Cumberland Head Start

Kimberly Williams has worked for Mid-Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start 11 years, and has experience teaching in an early childhood setting for 28 years. In her current role, she is an infant-toddler teacher, and will remain with them until they move up to preschool. Kimberly has a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and is currently working on her master’s degree in Training and Development. Kimberly enjoys teaching and working for children. She has three children Lauren 30, Kasey 29, and Marcus forever 22 (he passed away in September of 2020.) I have three grandchildren Rowan, 5, Tinsley will be 5 in October (we have custody of her, Paiselynne who will be 4 in November, and one due in March.
