The Behavior Incident Report System (BIRS) Excel spreadsheet has the capacity to alert early childhood programs of possible disproportionality for various groups of children and a particular factor or outcome (i.e., behavior incident frequency, suspension, expulsion). This webinar will discuss the BIRS Excel spreadsheet’s built-in equity alerts, what the measures of disproportionality mean, and how a leadership team will review them. We will also present resources programs can use in their work towards equity.

Myrna Veguilla, MS, MPH, is a Social & Behavioral Researcher in the Department of Child and Family Studies in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences of the University of South Florida in Tampa. Her work includes evaluation activities for the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations and supporting the activities of research studies examining Pyramid Model implementation. She holds a Master of Science in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Medical Microbiology and a Master of Public Health in Public Health Administration and is pursuing her Ph.D. degree in Educational Measurement and Evaluation at the University of South Florida.
Anna Winneker

Anna Winneker has a professional and educational background working with students with emotional/behavior disorders in settings ranging from residential treatment to inclusion. She completed her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in exceptional student education and qualitative research. Anna currently directs the Program-Wide Positive Behavior Support Project funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Florida that supports early care and education programs and family child care homes implement the Pyramid Model. Prior to that, she provided training and technical assistance to school districts throughout the state through the Florida Positive Behavior Support project.
