Angela Van Polen

Angie Van Polen is a Senior Project Manager at the Positive Early Learning Experiences (PELE) Center at the University of Denver. Angie has over 25 years of experience in the field of education. She has held positions as a special education teacher, special education consultant, and state education agency consultant. Her experiences and background provide her with a strong understanding of how high-quality evidence-informed practices can be embedded in classroom, program, and state level systems. Angie is passionate about early childhood systems work and the use of implementation science to guide cross-sector teams to make strong data-informed decisions regarding a chosen initiative to enhance implementation of the initiative while continuously planning for systems improvement, scale-up, and sustainability.

Stacy Scholten
Nebraska Children and Families Foundation
Stacy Scholten currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Early Childhood Mental Health at Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. In this position she provides technical assistance to communities who desire to partner with early childhood providers and systems to enhance the social emotional development of young children. Before coming to Nebraska Children in 2019, Stacy worked for twelve years in the child welfare system in both Nebraska and the Seattle Metro/Western Washington region. Seven of the twelve years was at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services bringing system and DHHS divisional partners together to address the well-being of children and families involved with child welfare. She has her master’s degree in early childhood development and is passionate about preventing families’ long-term involvement in systems through early childhood and dual-generation services.

Meredith Villines
Oregon Department of Education
20+ years of working in early care and education and is currently at the Oregon Department of Education, in the Office of Enhancing Student Opportunities. Meredith’s primary roles have been a classroom teacher in inclusive childcare and preschools, lead teacher in an Early Childhood Special Education classroom, Itinerant Special Early Childhood Education Teacher and Home Visitor, behavior specialist, trainer, and part-time faculty at Portland Community College. She co-developed and co-facilitates the Building Anti-Racist Learning Spaces training series. She is an Oregon Master Trainer and has a master’s degree in special education from Portland State University. Southern, white, middle class, cisgender, bisexual, able-bodied neurodivergent single woman raising a non-binary neurodivergent kid in Southeast Portland.
